Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging review!!!

I’m a little late on this, since I started and finished the book a while ago, but I still think that it deserves a review!
Georgia is a normal teenage girl. She deals with boys, parents, teachers, and her unnaturally large cat named Angus!  This whole book is basically a  diary of her everyday life, with separate entries for each day. The most interesting part pf this book is the sheer funniness of it all! The author, Louise Rennison, definitely did a good job when developing Georgia’s character. Georgia is blunt and as boy crazy as any teenage girl, so the story seems very real!
The downfall- sometimes the book can seem like it’s going really sloooooww, only because there’s not really a main story line, it’s more of a “Day in the life of…” sort of thing. But that’s basically it for the negative things about this book, at least for me.
In conclusion, this book is very lighthearted and fun! I recommend it if you’re looking for a book that will make you smile!

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
This book is based in the future. Everyone is an 'ugly' until you turn sixteen when you get a operation that turns you 'pretty'. Fifteen year old Tally can't wait to be pretty. 'Pretty' means high cheekbones, a perfect face, sparkling eyes, and a perfect body. When you become pretty, you move from Uglyville to New Pretty Town- where everything is a party.
Then, Tally meets Shay. Tally and shay have a lot in common, especially their love for doing practical jokes. But Shay doesn't want to become pretty. She would rather remain an ugly, and stay different.
One night, Shay runs away. She leaves a note that only Tally can decode, in case Tally wants to come find her.

The authorities offer Tally two options- die ugly, or betray Shay.

This book was really good! If you like a good adventure or science fiction books, you will love Uglies! I look forward to reading the next book in this series, Pretties.

A Cazy Little Thing Called Death

Hi guys! It's me- Quynn. Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, I am very busy and wanted to have a little break(:
But here is the book review that I promised would be coming up... A Crazy Little Thing Called Death! (By Nancy Martin, of course!) So main character Nora Blackbird is getting married to mob boss son Michael Azzubaro. And her crazy little sister Libby just has to plan it. It was going all well and good with everything until Nora went to a tea with a few other socialites where a polo match was going on, until Nora found a severed hand on the ground... They suspected it was Penny Devine, old time Hollywood movie star who had for decades now left suicide notes and ran a way. Then a few months later returning. So no one really believed it was her poor arm. Or was it? While Nora is trying to solve the unfortunate case, Michael is breaking bones, falling down stares; and getting caught in fires- He says it is just pure coincidence, or is it something more? Something like the legendary Blackbird curse- the curse that had been going on longer than Nora and her sisters grandparents. The curse said that any man who the sisters married or were getting engaged to would suffer many harms and might even die. That is what happened to Nora's first husband whom had died over a cocaine drug overdoes. Nora questions the reality of the curse. Is it really real, or is Micheal's mob family somehow involved. Tigers, Tom Cruse; and mysterious letters. But even in between all of that Nora somehow finds the guilty killer... And some other things... About her daughter. I loved this book and this series as you all know. So I give it a 9/10! Please check it out because it is an awesome book series!!
xx,
See you next time, Sydney.

The Missing Girl

Hiyaa!
How are you lovelies this fine Monday morning? Well, I am back as I promised and I have a book review on a book I had finished reading a few days ago called The Missing Girl by Norma Fox Mazer. This book is about 5 sisters (Autumn,-11. Fancy-12. Stevie-14. Mim-16. Beauty-17) aI nd there are basically three main characters- Because the different chapters are told by three different sister's "Perspectives" (Autumn, Fancy and Beauty) There isn't really a story line until later in the story. But basically there is an older man (40s) who walks every morning to watch the 5 sisters walk to school, and he "has" to choose which girl he likes the best. He chooses between Stevie and Autumn. But in the end he chooses Autumn, which might seem harmless- because it's just something that he is thinking, it's not like he really is going to act out on anything- until Autumn gets lost out in the woods because her sister Stevie has to move away because their parents are very poor and cannot afford to feed all of the five children, so she goes for just a simple walk, until she realizes that she is lost, and goes to this hidden house (The mans house) and asks for a map, the man then takes her hostage, keeping her in a little room at the top of the house- Her sisters just thinking that Autumn was blowing off steam because this scenario was not uncommon. Until days had passed and their baby sister had not shown up. This book is quick and easy read (Short chapters, big font, little pages even though it's almost 300 pages, it took me only a few hours to finish this book) I liked this book a lot and found it hard to put it down. However, in the beginning of the book it is a little hard to tell that the sisters have changed (One chapter it's Autumn, next it's Beauty, next it's Fancy, then Beauty again. You get the idea). I also found that the writing style was different than a lot of other novels and YA books that I have read before- and I have read a lot of them. I don't hate the writing style, but then again I do not absolutely love it. It's really is just... Different. Over all I think I would give this book a 3.5/5. Because there really is not a main plot until Autumn gets kidnapped- and that is really late into the book. But I do like this book, and I would reccomend it- expecially since it is a shorter book and a very quick read. And it really is interesting! So read this book by Norma Fox Mazer (Have you heard of her or read any of her books before? Because before this book I had never even heard of her! And I know about every single YA writer there is!)

(BTW, Bri will still be posting her fabulous posts!)

Size 12 Is Not Fat by Meg Cabot book review

Size 12 Is Not Fat by Meg Cabot
Former teen pop star Heather Wells is out shopping for jeans (frustratedly I might add), when her boss, Rachel, calls her and tells her that there has been a death in the building of the dorm- I mean residence hall- that Heather now works in. Apparently, the police found the dead girl at the bottom of the elevator shaft. They are ready to rule the death out as being an accident- they claim that the girl died elevator surfing. But Heather knows from experience that girls do not elevator surf! Heather has her suspicions that in fact, this was not a drunken accident, but a murder. Then, when another girl dies in the residence hall, Heather is sure that her hunch is true. She feels responsible to find out what is happening to these girls (whether it's in her job description or not), and try to stop the killer from striking again. That becomes a little difficult when she encounters twist and turns, and people from her pop star days come back into her life.
This mystery has a mix of romance, action, and murder! This book left me hanging on every word and I couldn't put it down. I'm definitely going to be reading the next book (Size 14 Is Not Fat Either) in the Heather Wells mysteries series.
I give this book a 5 out of 5!

Pick Up the Phone!

When I first got this song free on iTunes, I immediately couldn't stop listening to it. The song is by Dragonette, an electric-pop group that started in 2005. Dragonette is made up of singer/songwriter Martina Sorbara, guitarist Chris Hugget, drummer Joel Stouffer , and bassist and producer Dan Kurtz.
I like this song Pick Up the Phone because it's all about having fun and not taking life too seriously:). Even though I don't understand some of the lyrics, I think I get the point:)
Lately, I haven't been listening to much of 'the latest hits' on the radio, because after a while, all of the songs start to sound the same. That's another thing that I like about this song- you can tell that it's different.

Have Your Cake and Kill Him Too

Hey Bloggers!
What's up? This is my second time writing this, because I saved my first attempt and now I cannot find it! :] But anyway! I am going to write a review for the fantastic mystery book called: Have Your Cake and Kill Him Too. It is in the infamous Blackbird Sister Mysteries series by Nancy Martin (Book number 5) I fell in LOVE with this book and series as soon as I started reading it! However, I started reading in the middle of the book collection (number 4) but, the good thing about this book series is that you get "filled" in on the important things (Relationship issues usually) in the book before, so you don't need to worry about not reading them in order, but I would recommend that you do! Because these books are F-a-b-u-l-o-u-s!
But, onto the fun part. This book is about Nora Blackbird (main character) and her two sisters Emma and Libby. In every book Nora faces a murder/crime in her life, and though many difficulties and dramas she finds out who did it, why and when! This time around, Nora encounters her ex-boyfriend Michael at a new strippy dinner with young half naked women who dance on the counters of the bar-The place called Cupcakes. And ironically enough, the man (Zell, an old perverted man) who created the place is found dead, and declared a homicide. Of course Nora has to get onto the case, but she soon finds out that she is pregnant! With her ex! While she is dating another man! (Named Richard D'eath. Isn't his last name ironic?) And the worst part of out of all of it is that Nora's BFF is being wrongly accused of the murder for Zell, and Nora's sister Emma is working at a place called Dungeon of Darkness! (It sounds as bad as it is!) Then Nora finds out that her nephew has be doing stuff with Zell's 16 year old Step-granddaughter, and it may mean that her nephew becomes in danger, but helps her solve the case. This book is FANTASTIC, Fun, Fresh, Smart and just plain old well written! I rate this book a 5/5!
Some magazine and newspaper reviews say:
"A laugh-out-loud comic mystery as outrageous as a pink chinchilla coat."-Booklist
And: "A thoroughly entertaining mystery that also provides some red-hot sexual tension!" -New York Times Bestselling Author Jane Heller.

I hope you guys liked the review! As much as I had fun writing it! (And playing with the colors!) And I really do recommend this book and this fun series!

xoxo,
Quynn.

Falling for Fall....

If you've ever read my other blog, you would know that right now, I just can't get off of the topic of fall style. I cannot wait until fall, so I can wear knits, and leggings and boots and other things of that nature.
So naturally, I would fall in love with Karlie Kloss for Bergdorf Goodman Pre-Fall catalogue 2010.
Karlie Kloss in one word? Amazing.

Only the Good Spy Young

Only the Good Spy Young, the fourth installment in the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter
I loved this book! Read it. It's very hard for me to write a review about it because if I just mention one of my favorite parts of the story, that might spoil it for you!
Like all good adventures, this book started out fast paced, with a little taste of mystery. Cammie Morgan, the main character of this series, is on winter break with her best friend, Bex. That sounds pretty fun, right? Well it isn't for Cammie! First, because she's actually taking a break from her super classified all-girls-spy-boarding-school. Second, because an organization of 'below the radar' terrorists are out to kill her. Cammie soon learns she can not trust anyone, not even the person she admires the most.
This book was stuffed with twists and turns that were well, unexpected! I found myself getting to know these characters as if they were real, and feeling the emotions that they feel. Even though some parts of the book were a little slow paced, the exciting parts over powered that. With books from series, I usually have that feeling where I think," The writer should have stopped after the second book.", but with Only The Good Spy Young, honestly, that thought never really crossed my mind. It left me wondering what will happen next, and I cannot wait for the next book!
Bottom line, I highly recommend reading it.
I give this book a 4.5 out of 5!

Two-Way Street Book Review

Hi guys!
It's Quynn, and I am going to be doing a book review for Lauren Barnholdt's lovely book called Two-Way street. (You can contact Lauren on her Facebook page, Twitter, and on her website) This book is about a teenage girl about to graduate from high school whose name is Courtney, but the twist of the story is that she has to go on a road trip with her EX boyfriend- Jordan! This wouldn't be so bad if they has just had a normal break up, something cheesy but not bizarre- like saying that he/she loved him/her but just needed to have a break from the relationship because they felt that their going steady was holding them hostage and they were no longer doing as well in school. But it wasn't. Instead Jordan broke up with her (The book began with them already broken up, so I'm not giving any spoilers) because supposedly he found someone else who was better from him on Myspace! But is he really telling the truth? This book is an beautifully written novel, and exciting and thrilling from cover to cover and you can't put it down! Watch the truths unravel as Jordan and Cortney drive all the way across the country with only themselves and a ton of tension. And what will happen in the end at college, when their dorms are only a door away?! Will they stay broken up and "hating" each other, or will they forgive and forget what might have even never been there?
Read this fantastic novel by Lauren Barnholdt and let it change the way you think of things, and your own life!
Thanks guys! I hope you liked the review-Expect more to come!
